Ribadelago Viejo

It is a municipality in Sanabria famous for having been swept away by river Tera in 1959, when the dam of Vega de Tera broke and millions of liters of water, embedded in the narrow walls of the canyon headed at great speed until the mouth of it in the middle of the night surprising more than 500 inhabitants. People lost almost all their crop fields; everything was swept away by the flood: the cattle, the mills, the houses and entire families disappeared.
